2 Enid men are arrested

By Kasey Fowler, Staff Writer

Two men were arrested Wednesday following a chase by North Enid police officers.

The driver, Eric Strunk, 29, of Enid, was arrested on complaints of attempting to elude an officer, speeding, no insurance and resisting arrest.

His passenger, Todd Hutchison, 31, of Enid, was arrested on warrants from Enid.

“I still don’t know why they ran,” said Martin Schubert, North Enid Police Department chief. “There were no violations at the time, only municipal warrants.”

Schubert took the passenger down at gunpoint and used his Taser on the driver twice after he refused to comply, the chief said.

Schubert said he was following a vehicle south on 16th that was traveling at a high rate of speed.

“I got close to it at Breckenridge and was able to clock it. The car was going 51 in a 35,” Schubert said.

He continued to follow the vehicle while attempting to catch up to it. As the car approached Willow, Schubert activated his siren.

The vehicle failed to yield to traffic as it headed west on Willow, Schubert said. At 4th, the driver attempted to make a turn but lost control and wrecked the vehicle.

“The passenger got out of the vehicle and the vehicle backed up towards me,” Schubert said.
