Covington-Douglas eighth-grade commencement was May 21 in Memorial Gym.
Salutatorian address was given by Tifney Crews. Valedictorian addresses were given by Savannah Kirk and Dakota Schoeling. Commencement addresses were given by Breanna Bergdall, Robin Donaldson and Joseph Jimenez. Class officers were: president, Dakota Schoeling; secretary/treasurer, Kandis Rupp; reporter, Quenten Thayer; and student council representatives, Kandis Rupp and Gage Smith.

Clark-Perrin American Legion Post 190 held a Memorial Day program at Covington Cemetery. Commander Dick Powers presented an award to Joel Cline, who served 32 years in the military, including World War II, Korea and Vietnam. He continues to serve by donating $100 a month to the American Legion Post so it can continue to send care packages to local servicemen in Iraq and Afghanistan.
