Enid police made two arrests following a search near Adams Elementary School that locked the building down after several suspects fled from stolen vehicle.
The school, which was searched by police after it was secured to ensure none of those fleeing had entered the building, no longer is locked and will continue the day as normal, officials said.
Enid Police Department Sgt. Warren Wilson said an officer saw a Lincoln Navigator reported stolen about 7:56 a.m. in the area of Randolph and 23rd. When the officer attempted to stop the vehicle, several people fled on foot from the vehicle.
Wilson said officers requested the school be placed under lockdown and conducted a search of the school and school property and then conducted their search in the surrounding area.
Wilson said officers’ investigations led police to two homes in the area, and two adults were arrested and others were being detained as the investigation is ongoing.
The adults were arrested on complaints of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
