BREAKING NEWS: Area fire departments battling large wildfire near Cleo Springs

A large wildfire was burning west of Cleo Springs late Saturday afternoon, causing homes to be evacuated.

Garfield County Emergency Management Director Mike Honigsberg said he was unsure if any homes had been damaged by the fire.

“We are just trying to put out the fire as best we can. The wind is making it hard. We are working hard to get it done. It keeps flaring up in places,” said Honisberg.

Fire departments from Drummond, Lahoma, Breckinridge, Hillsdale, Kremlin, Waukomis, Vance Air Force Base, Cleo Springs, Dacoma, Nescatunga and Major and Garfield county emergency management were on the scene.

“We are all working together to get it done,” said Honigsberg.
