Fairview Savings and Loan Association has finalized its plans for its centennial celebration April 17. There will be a free barbecue rib dinner served 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Major County Historical Society, catered by Elm Grove Assembly of God Church of Chester. Russell Pembrook, of the association, said they expect 1,500 people to attend.
Following the dinner, Susie McEntire Luchsinger will give a country gospel concert at 7 p.m. at Fairview Schools Arts and Education Center, 1000 E. Elm. This event is free and open to the public.
Luchsinger is the sister of Reba McEntire. She started her career as a member of the Singing McEntires in the 1980s. She has appeared on The Grand Ole Opry as well as “Hee Haw” and Johnny Carson television shows. She has focused her talent toward gospel music.

Fairview boys’ basketball team suffered a loss in the 2A state basketball tournament last week.
