Genealogists to meet Saturday
Garfield County Genealogists will meet at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the Great Plains Room of Public Library of Enid and Garfield County.
Jerry Kunkel, with Enid High School Alumni Association, will give a presentation about information on the Internet regarding Enid High graduates.
Visitors are welcome.
Teamster workshop set for April
Since the art of driving working teams of horses and mules pulling wagons and plows has become nearly extinct, Dr. John C. Ogle and the Cherokee Strip Booster Club are working to keep this skill alive.
A hands-on introductory workshop in driving working teams will be present every Saturday in April. Four apprenticeships will be offered on a first-come, first-accepted basis for the first course.
Applicants must be 30 to 55 years old, in good health and have a love of horses and the pioneer heritage. The cost is a $25 donation to the booster club.
Ogle, who has worked with horses most of his life (the past 17 years primarily with draft horses and mules) will instruct the class, with help from guests Leon Enterline, Cole Ream and Brad Gungoll.
Animals to be used are clydesdales, Belgians, percherons and mules.
To enroll or for information, call Ogle at 233-8743.
