Metropolitan Area Planning Commission members approved Monday a plan to build a new hotel in a re-plat of a development west of Big O Tire on West Garriott.
A change in the development for Sakhi Plaza, which already has been approved by Enid City Commission, was recommended for approval by city staff members. Enid Planning Director Chris Bauer said the developer is changing the plat due to economic conditions. The original plat called for two hotels and a commercial area. The new plat plans for a Hampton Inn to be constructed.
The hotel project is being developed by Suraj and Karuna Demla, acting as Enid Hotel Group LLC.
The change in plans is subject to approval of the city commission.
A plan to construct a maintenance building at Northern Oklahoma College Enid also was approved Monday by MAPC. The building location was changed from a previous site plan. It will be located at 2515 E. Broadway and will have entrances on 26th and Broadway. The land is zoned special use and NOC will pay a $2,351 storm water fee at the time the building permit is issued.
In other business, MAPC members approved:
• A plan for a new clubhouse at Oakwood Country Club. Plans are to tear down the present club building and construct a new one on the same footprint. The property is zoned R-1 residential.
• An extension of a previously approved plan for Skyview Estates by developer Doug Lovelly.
• A site development plan for 1402 N. Van Buren for Dr. Erin Roberts. The site includes a new dentist office, which will be constructed immediately and an adjoining office building to be built at a later date. The property is zoned C-3 general commercial and some of the surrounding property is zoned light industrial.
