State Rep. John Enns was elected Tuesday to his second term in the House, polling an overwhelming victory over independent Scott Cooper.
Results in District 41 showed Enns, an Enid Repub-lican, polling 15,279 votes, compared to 2,936 for Coop-er, of La-homa.
Enns said the win show-ed voters approve of the job he’s doing.
“I think they’ve appreciated the job I’ve done, and I hope to give them two more good years. I really enjoy the job,” he said.
In the coming session Enns will work on looking for ways to provide incentives for renewable energy, compressed natural gas, nuclear power and establish an energy structure in Oklahoma.
“We need to be a leader in that area. Like T. Boone Pickens said, ‘We are the Saudi Arabia of wind,’” he said.
Enns also will continue to work on obtaining funding for his stem cell research bill that was approved last session.
“That will bring companies into the state to do research, which will provide high paying jobs and that’s what we need, high paying jobs,” he said.
Enns grew up in Enid and is a graduate of Enid High School. He spent his college years in Kansas, but came back to the Enid area immediately after graduation.
Along with farming, Enns used his degrees from Tabor College to teach at Drummond Public Schools and Northern Oklahoma College Enid.
District 41 includes parts of Garfield, Kingfisher, Canadi-an and Oklahoma counties.
