Covington-Douglas FCCLA officers for 2008-09 are: Odessa Whitmire, president; Hannah Nelson, vice president; Jeff Carpenter, secretary; Kesley McColgin, parliamentarian; Rebecca Faubion, treasurer/reporter; A.J. Phillips, historian; and Jamie Stinchcomb, adviser.

FCCLA chapter had the opportunity to take a trip to Fairview for the district meeting and officer training meeting held Sept. 10. Covington-Douglas chapter also took donations to Feed the Children at the meeting.
During the meeting, Kesley McColgin and Tori Whitmire shared their talents on stage in front of all the district chapters. McColgin shared she is able to “cluck” like a chicken. Whitmire shared she is the Covington-Douglas mascot and she danced on stage the same way she dances at games.
The motivational speaker for the day was Rhett Laubach, getting everyone motivated with games and jokes.

FCCLA chapter and FFA chapter participated in an evening hayride Sept. 20 to Houston Farm. Before leaving, everyone donated canned goods for the local food pantry.
The group played volleyball, basketball and bobbed for apples. Danny Houston offered everyone $5 to make a golf ball in a small bucket, with the bucket resting right-side up. Brett Stoop was the only one to get a ball into the bucket.

The past week was homecoming week and FCCLA planned a homecoming lunch for all the football players, coaches, teachers, royalty, cheerleaders and all chapter members.
The lunch was held Sept. 25 with members serving tacos.
