Healthy Enid-area residents 17 and older are encouraged by Oklahoma Blood Institute to join Northwestern Oklahoma State University in its attempt to conduct a record-breaking blood drive.
The event will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Commons area on the Enid campus, 2929 E. Randolph. The NWOSU drive will continue on its Alva campus, 709 Oklahoma, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday.
Students, faculty and staff are attempting to break the university’s 402-donor record set in February 2004.
“NWOSU blood drives are truly exceptional,” said John Armitage, M.D., Oklahoma Blood Institute president and chief executive. “This community college’s blood donation rivals campuses more than 10 times its size. We appreciate NWOSU for setting the bar high, and providing tremendous support for the blood needs of Oklahomans.”
Donors will receive Guitar Hero-themed T-shirts to thank rockin’ blood donors. Members for Life points to redeem at OBI’s online store and free health screenings also will be offered. For information or to make an appointment to donate, call Lori Coonrod at 213-3147, 233-9323 or go to www.obi.org.
Those unable to participate in the NWOSU Blood Drive may donate blood at OBI’s Enid center, 301 E Cherokee. Hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Wednesday and Friday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday; and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Donations take about an hour and can be made every 56 days.
