Horn of Plenty fall food drive is Oct. 5

The fall food drive for Horn of Plenty will be 1-6 p.m. Oct. 5 at the food pantry’s warehouses, 121 N. 16th.

Since the spring drive an anonymous Enid family donated an additional warehouse, doubling Horn of Plenty’s storage capacity.

“We have sufficient space now available thanks to the generous contributions of a local family,” said Carol Ingle, president of the Horn of Plenty board.

Ingle said the facility will be closed the week prior to the drive for maintenance before the food starts coming in.

Volunteers are being sought to help collect food donations. She also reminded Enid residents making donations to place food items on their front porch for easy collection by 1 p.m. Oct. 5. Preferred items include baby food, canned tuna, peanut butter and other non-perishable items.

The best donations, she said, are things people can use to make a variety of meals.

Financial contributions can be made to Horn of Plenty, P.O. Box 5583, Enid, OK 73702.

Six local agencies receive food from Horn of Plenty: Cimarron Valley Chapter of American Red Cross, Booker T. Washington Community Center, Head Start, U Turn for Christ, YWCA Crisis Center and Youth & Family Services of North Central Oklahoma.
