A comprehensive course designed to train people to mediate family and divorce matters will be Sept. 24-27 in Enid.
The course meets the training requirements for professional mediators to qualify under District Court Mediation Act and is approved by Oklahoma Bar Association for mandatory continuing legal education.
Judges throughout Oklahoma are referring disputes to mediation in the hope parties can resolve matters on a voluntary basis and avoid an expensive legal battle. People who complete the course will receive a certificate and be qualified to assist in resolving a variety of family and divorce matters.
The course is sponsored by The Mediation Institute, a private, not-for-profit organization that has been training professional mediators since 1992.
The course will be 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. all four days. Pre-registration is required and is limited to 20 participants. For information, call Jim Stovall, director of training, at (405) 607-8914 or go to www.mediationinstitute.net.
