Wildcats take on Pirates

Covington-Douglas Wild-cats play the Braman Pirates at 7:30 tonight at Braman. The team beat Seiling 28-13 Friday. Homecoming is Sept. 26. Covington-Douglas hosts Coyle.



Covington-Douglas FFA and 4-H members participated in Garfield County Fair. In the livestock show, Gavyn Reim earned reserve grand champion with his crossbred hog. He also showed champion and reserve champion Hampshire hogs. Bryon Rupp showed a champion Chester hog. Jeff Carpenter showed a champion Suffolk sheep and a reserve champion crossbred sheep. Earl Murphy showed a champion Shropshire sheep. Crystal Lairmore had re-serve champion specklefaced sheep. Jennifer Harris showed reserve champion shorthorn heifer.



Community



Home and School Club met Sept 9 at Napoli’s Restaurant, with Lovella Pattrick as hostess. Irene Reinhardt won the hostess gift. Members attending were Zoe Bolz, Maidee LeForce, Irene Reinhardt, Christina Rink and Lovella Pattrick. Special guests included Herb Bolz, Lowell Roach of Bay Center, Wash., and Martha Bolz, Shilder.

Maidee LeForce is hostess for the October meeting.



Church



The fifth Sunday sing was Sept. 7 at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Specials were sung by Boyd Cline, Myrna Moore and Darlene Roades, Mike Bolz, George Kegin, Donna Beckner, Sherri Ashley, St. John’s Praise Singers, Kathy Pierce and Kathy Grantz, Leo Taylor and Carol Kegin.

The next Sunday sing is 7 p.m. Nov. 30 at Covington Christian Church.
