Emerson Junior High School students will embark on a “freedom walk” this morning to honor those who perished or were injured in the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The students will start their walk at 7:30 a.m., and they are inviting the public to join them. The walk will be around the block of Emerson, pausing in front of the flag at 7:46 a.m. for a moment of silence to remember the 9/11 attacks. The walk will last for 31 minutes, each minute representing 100 children who lost a parent on Sept. 11.
People are encouraged to wear red, white and blue.
