Lecture series to focus on history


Northern Oklahoma College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University will host a lecture series about the history and strength of the United States.

Internationally distinguished scholar and author, Dr. J. Rufus Fears, will present the series beginning Sept. 8.

Fears received his Ph.D. from Harvard University and has won several awards including three University of Oklahoma Professor of the Year awards.

The 5-part series, “America’s Legacy of Freedom,” will be held in Enid at Northern Oklahoma College, with the last lecture being held at the Enid Symphony Center.

The event is free to the public, and college credit hours through Northern Oklahoma College and Northwestern Oklahoma State University as well as professional development credits may be issued.

The lecture series schedule will be:

• Sept. 8: The Declaration of Indepen-dence.

• Sept. 22: Our Constitution.

• Sept. 29: America: An Empire of Liberty.

• Oct. 6: Abraham Lincoln: Leadership in a Time of Crisis.

• Oct. 13: America’s Legacy of Freedom: Can We Keep It?
