Enid Police officer Tom Corbin reportedly is improving and still in stable condition after being struck by a car late Saturday night, ac-cording to EPD Sgt. Richard Sutton.
Corbin was directing traffic at the intersection of Cleveland and Rupe when he was struck by a 1991 Ford Escort driven by David Colbentz. Corbin is a 17-year veteran of Enid Police Department. He was taken by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Re-gional Medical Center for in-capacitating injuries to his head, body, arms and legs, the police report said. He is in intensive care at St. Mary’s.
After being struck, Corbin was knocked about 10 feet from the point of impact. Colbentz told officers he was traveling about 40 mph and said he did not see Corbin.
The incident is under investigation.
