EPD captain is placed on administrative leave

An Enid Police Department captain has been placed on administrative leave, officials confirmed Monday, but no further information was released.

Police referred questions to City Attorney Carol Lahman, who declined comment.

Lahman said it was a “personnel matter” and did not fall under the Oklahoma Open Records Act, which states a public body “may” keep personnel records confidential: “Which relate to internal personnel investigations including examination and selection material for employment, hiring, appointment, promotion, demotion, discipline or resignation.”

However, the law does not prohibit the release of the information outlined in Oklahoma Open Records Act.

Under the law, the information would be available to the public when, “Any final disciplinary action resulting in loss of pay, suspension, demotion of position, or termination,” is a result of a personnel decision.
