Covington-Douglas swimming pool is open 1-5 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday and 6-9 p.m. Thursday. Cost is $1.50.
Pool managers are Kim Pearson and Kitty Shockey, and life guards are Katie Houston, Robin Donaldson and Ryan Donaldson.

Gerald Pope, of Covington, recently was elected American Legion district commander of Area 8A. Pope attended Perry’s Ellis-Jirous American Legion Post 53 meeting June 3. The group elected a new slate of officers.
Pope congratulated Michael Doughty, who was stepping down after a year as commander of Post 53. Prior to that, Doughty was the post adjutant for 11 years.

Before the rains, wheat harvest was in full swing in the Covington area. Russell Cassody brought in the first load of wheat to Covington Co-op on June 3. At Douglas Co-op, Larry Sebranek brought the first load in. Jim Worthan brought in the first wheat at Marshall.
