Northwest Oklahoma voters had more than presidential primary votes to cast Tuesday.

Area voters had two bond issues up for approval, two propositions up for vote, 10 school board positions to be filled and a county commissioner to elect to an unexpired term.



School bonds



Fairview Public Schools voters approved a $1.85 million bond issue for renovation and addition to the high school gymnasium.

New restrooms and a concession area would be included in the 3,000-square-foot expansion of the gymnasium entrance.

The measure passed 847-368, or 69.7 percent of the vote — well more than the 60 percent required of school bond issues.

Seiling Public Schools voters also passed a bond issue.

Voters approved the $700,000 measure, to be paired with a $3 million donation from an alumna, to build a new gym.

The bond proposal received 505 yes votes and 122 no votes, or 80.5 percent of the vote.

The majority of the money would go toward a new parking lot around the gym. Other projects include a heating and cooling system, a new roof for the auditorium, renovation of the running track, furnishing the gym and completing a baseball field.

911 propositions



Blaine County voters passed two propositions to create a countywide Enhanced 911 service.

Proposition 1, which concerned the landline portion of the enhanced system, passed with 1,796 yes votes to 739 no votes.

Proposition 2, which concerned the cellular phone portion of the enhanced system, also passed with 1,796 yes votes to 676 no votes.



Commissioner runoff



In Woods County, voters will have to go to the polls again to select someone to fill the District 2 county commission unexpired term. Randy McMurphy gathered the most votes, 274, but did not gain the required majority in a five-person race. Sherrie Woodard received 189 votes and will oppose McMurphy in the runoff.

Kirk Brown received 106 votes, Rodney Vogts received 90 votes and John Farris received 50 votes.



Area school boards



Canton voters selected Delana Canada for the Office 3 seat with 258 votes. John Boettler received 176.

Cashion Office 3 will be filled by David Rising, who received 286 votes. Terri Arms received 197, and Larry Thorp garnered 48.

Voters in the Deer Creek-Lamont district selected Ray Webster, with 240 votes, for Office 3. His opponent, Kirk Schuelein, received 115 votes.

Office 3 in Dover will be filled by Greg Terrill, who received 173 votes to Teri R. Johnson’s 72 votes.

A runoff will be required to fill Office 3 for the Hennessey school district.

Ray Cordry received 346 votes, Luke Lough received 273, Rodney Walker received 175 and Patty Thompson received 100. Cordry and Lough will be in the runoff.

David Cofer will fill an unexpired term for Office 5 in Hennessey. Cofer received 629 votes to Rochelle K. Smith’s 230.

Mooreland school district voters selected Dustin Donley, with 409 votes, to fill the Office 3 seat, with opponent Brett A. Bates receiving 206 votes.

Gaye Pfeiffer won a seat on the Mulhall-Orlando school board with 235 votes. Randus Harman received 167 votes in the race.

The vote for the Pond Creek-Hunter Office 3 seat will require a runoff.

Curtis Peterson received 204 votes, Gary L. Williams received 136 and Raymond Parrish received 111 votes. Peterson and Williams will be in the runoff

The race for Sharon-Mutual Office 3 also will require a runoff.

Frank Lamberth received 149 votes, Daisy Adams received 113 and Lee Vanderwork received 101. Lamberth and Adams will be in the runoff.

Waynoka voters selected A.J. Ferguson to fill the Office 3 school board seat. Ferguson received 374 votes, and Wesley Kruckenberg received 147 votes.
