Enid chapter of Air Force Association came away with several honors at the recent national convention in Washing-ton, D.C.
The Enid chapter received the National Exceptional Service Award for the Community Partner Program, the large chapter Jack Gross Membership Award and a Community Partner Gold Award.
Mary Feightner received a National Presidential Citation for her long-term support of AFA at local, state and national levels. This prestigious award is only presented to 10 AFA members annually.
During the convention, Enid member Terry Cox, who serves as Oklahoma AFA president, was elected president for the Texas and Oklahoma Region. Jay Jacobs was elected Oklahoma president. Dan Ohnesorge was elected to replace Jacobs as Enid chapter president.
Activities attended during the convention included a memorial service at the Air Force Memorial, several formal dinners at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel and a congressional breakfast at the Capitol building hosted by U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe. Sen. Tom Coburn and Reps. Frank Lucas and Dan Boren also attended the breakfast.
Many dignitaries, including Secretary of the Air Force Michael Wynne and Air Force Chief of Staff Gen. T. Michael Moseley, addressed attendees during convention events.
Enid members attending were Cox; George Pankonin, Okla-homa vice president for leadership development; Feightner, Oklahoma vice president for membership; Mike Cooper, Enid chapter board of directors; and Lori Earl, Enid chapter board of directors.
