A 19-year-old Enid man was has been charged with rape by instrumentation for allegedly having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl.
Zachary Glenn Hayes faces from to five years to life in prison on the felony charge.
According to an affidavit, police were called to a home in the 200 block of B Court July 3 in reference to the rape of a minor.
The girl’s stepfather told police he caught Hayes with his hand in his stepdaughter’s shorts while the two were on the couch, the affidavit states. The stepfather told police he chased Hayes from his home and had his fiancé call police.
When police spoke with Hayes, he denied having any sexual contact with the girl, according to the affidavit. He was arrested, and during a subsequent interview admitted to touching the girl, according to an affidavit.
Hayes is being held in lieu of $15,000 bond and was ordered to appear in court again July 30 for a bond appearance.
