Police arrested an Enid man Thursday after he allegedly assaulted a woman for no apparent reason.
Brian Daniel Eck, 45, was arrested on complaints of assault and battery and resisting arrest for grabbing and choking a 19-year-old woman outside of OK Store at Maine and Madison about 1:45 p.m., said Enid Police Department Sgt. Eric Holtzclaw.
Holtzclaw said the woman stopped for gas and had stepped away from the pumps to smoke a cigarette when Eck took the cigarette from her, stamped it out and began assaulting her.
“She had no idea who he was,” Holtzclaw said. “He just started attacking her.”
Holtzclaw said several residents helped pull Eck off the woman before police arrived and placed him under arrest.
Oklahoma State Court Rec-ords show Eck has a misdemea-nor assault warrant sworn out for his arrest in Payne County.
