Enid High School’s Big Blue Band qualified for the Oklahoma Bandmaster’s Association marching contest finals for the 26th straight year Saturday.
“That ain’t bad,” said Martin Good, band booster club president.
Results from the finals competition held at the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond were not available at press time.
Saturday’s contest was the band’s second in one week.
Band members finished with a superior rating at Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association contest Wednesday in Broken Arrow.
The band also placed fifth at Putnam City Invitational Contest and second at Catoosa Tournament of Bands recently.
Big Blue Band boosters are working on fundraisers to help with expenses for the band’s upcoming trip to Chicago.
The band members will travel to perform as part of Chicago Festivals of Music April 18-22.
The group will compete in concert and jazz band and indoor drum line, color guard and twirling activities.
Information about fundraisers and the new Big Blue Band pins is available on the band’s Web site, www.bigblueband.net.
