Assistance is available for people who cannot afford the cost of prescription medication.
RX for Oklahoma helps low-income people, people who are uninsured or underinsured to access pharmaceutical company programs that offer reduced cost or free medications. The program is designed to help with the cost of long-term maintenance prescriptions not prescriptions that are needed only once.
RX for Oklahoma is a free service offered by several community action agencies across northwest Oklahoma, including Community Devel-opment Support Association in Enid, Opportunities in Watonga and United Community Action Agency in Pawnee. CDSA, 242-7928, serves Garfield and Grant counties. Opportunities serves Cimarron, Texas, Beaver, Harper, Ellis, Alfalfa, Woodward, Woods, Dewey, Blaine, Major and Kingfisher counties, and United Com-munity Action serves Kay and Noble counties. To request an application, contact the agency in your area or call toll-free at (800) 723-9426.
“The cost of life-saving medication can be daunting for families who do not have access to insurance coverage. RX for Oklahoma helps people to receive the medications they need when they would otherwise not be able to afford them,” said Cheri Ezzell, Region 1 director for the program.
