Eddy Cannon named Firefighter of Month
The Enid Elk's Lodge Firefighter of the Month for September is Eddy D. Cannon from Vance Air Force Base Fire Depart-ment. Before coming to Enid he spent four years in the Air Force as a firefighter, receiving his training at Shnook Air Force Base.
Cannon is a native of Sanation, Texas. He has been with the Vance Fire Department for 26 years and is the lead firefighter and first response rescue team member. He also is the shop stewart for Vance Fire Department.
He and his wife, Cathy, have two children, Rick, a sophomore at Northwestern at Alva, and Kelsi, a junior at Kremlin High School. They are members of Oak-wood Christian Church.
When he is not working, he likes to ride his motorcycle, hunt and fish.

UPDATED photo- Silver Alert issued for missing Garfield County man
Garfield County authorities have issued a Silver Alert for an 88-year-old man who hasn’t been seen since leaving for church. The county sheriff’s office says Edward Sutter was last seen about 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he left home for 1st United Methodist Church in Enid. Sutter never arrived at the church. He was last seen driving a gray, 2003 Toyota Avalon. Authorities had initially said he was driving a Toyota Altima.
