Denny Price Family YMCA, 415 W. Cherokee, will hold its third annual Day of Prayer on Jan. 29.
The event will be 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. in the Y chapel.
Fifteen-minute prayer slot reservations may be made by signing up in person at the Y or by calling 237-4645, extension 16. People also are welcome to simply drop in and pray at their convenience.
“George Williams, who founded the YMCA in 1844, had a simple plan: to pray for those he cared about with the confident expectation that they would become Christians,” said Ken Rapp, YMCA executive director. “We believe that plan is as important today as it was then, and we ask our community to join our members, staff and board for a Day of Prayer in our chapel.”
Anyone may fill out a prayer request card, available at the front desk, and each need will be read and lifted in prayer during the Day of Prayer.
“The mission of our organization is to honor God by providing an outstanding facility, atmosphere and programs that foster a positive change in the spirit, mind and body,” Rapp said.
“Our desire is for our Y to partner with churches to honor God in service to our community and to spread the Gospel. We feel a Day of Prayer is a perfect way to do just that.”
