‘Willie Spears Experience’ coming to NOC

ENID, Okla. — Northern Oklahoma College Tonkawa and Enid will host “The Willie Spears Experience” lecture event Thursday on both campuses.

Spears, a Northwestern Oklahoma State University graduate, will speak on the Tonkawa campus 11 a.m. to noon in the Walcher Conference Center and on the Enid campus 3-4 p.m. in the Gantz Student Center. The event, sponsored by the NOC Foundation Presidential Partners, is free and open to the public.

Spears is a communicator, and uses his special skills every day in every aspect of his life. He is a football coach, an author, a teacher, a licensed minister and a motivational speaker. As a motivational speaker, Spears has spoken to thousands of students and adults about life management and choices. His talks are a mixture of comedy, love, knowledge and charisma, delivered with high energy.

Spears currently is the head football coach at Escambia High School in Pensacola, Fla. He is a finalist for Teacher of the year at Escambia High School.

In 2008, Spears was honored by Northwestern with the Alumni/Foundation Outstanding Graduate Award in the area of education.

While at Northwestern, Spears was active on campus within the mass communications department and twice was named the Best College Disc Jockey in the state of Oklahoma. He also was a member of the football team, leading the Rangers in receptions, and was part of a 31-game winning streak and an undefeated national championship season.

He has used his communication and writing skills to write three books surrounding the life of the central character, Keisha. The books are “Keisha’s Dilemma,” “Keisha’s Ultimate Dilemma” and “Derek’s Dilemma.”

Spears is married to his high school friend Tanika, and they have two children, Tayelor Grace and Kenneth David.
