ENID, Okla. —
Firefighters responded to a transformer fire at Cummins Construction Sunday afternoon.
Fire Marshal Ken Helms said OG&E Electric Services was working on a transformer, and it suddenly caught fire. Firefighters arrived to see flames 20 feet in the air. The fire was quickly knocked down.
“They had a lot of smoke and flames at first, but it was just oil burning out of the transformer,” Helms said.
Estimated damage is $20,000, plus some oil on the ground will need to be cleaned up. The fire was next to a building and some equipment, but none was damaged, he said.
