The best dressed pet contest was held Aug. 21 at Covington-Douglas. In the junior division, Sydney Haken won first place. She and her weiner dog were dressed as angels. In the senior division, Zach Finlayson and his niece Hailey Campbell with Zach’s pig, Hannah. They were all dressed up in Hawaiian gear.

The guest speaker for the morning service at 10:50 Sunday at First Baptist Church will be Phillip Gregg. He is a 1997 graduate of Covington-Douglas High School and attends seminary in Kansas City.

First Baptist’s Journey group will be hosting a fifth quarter at the church immediately following the Seiling vs. Covington-Douglas football game Sept 11 until 11:45 p.m. This is for all seventh- through 12th-grade students. Doug Hinson will be the guest speaker.

A bell choir is being started at St. John’s Lutheran Church. Any member wishing to try is welcome on Wednesday evenings at 5:30.

A Bible study is starting at St. John’s on Sunday evenings, starting Sept. 13. The study is called “Blessed are the Peacemakers” and will be led by Pastor Tim Dorsch of Zion Lutheran, Fairmont.
