U.S. 60 was closed four miles east of Pond Creek for nearly three hours Tuesday following an accident involving an overturned trailer.
The highway closed at 11:45 a.m. after a pickup pulling a trailer with a backhoe on it jackknifed and rolled, blocking both lanes of traffic, said Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Robert Cottrill.
“The pickup was too small for the load he was hauling,” he said. “It pushed him down a hill and jackknifed him. On the last jackknife, the trailer rolled.”
There were no injuries. Oil from the backhoe spilled onto the road, Cottrill said.
The westbound lane was reopened by 2:18 p.m. and the eastbound lane was reopened by 2:30 p.m., he said.
