Severe storms knocked out power Wednesday to several hundred OG&E; Electric Services customers in northwest Oklahoma.
At 9:40 p.m., OG&E; System Watch reported 295 customers in the Enid area without electricity. In the Deer Creek area, 622 customers were affected, as were 246 in the Marshall area, 339 in the Douglas area and 203 in the Hennessey area.
John Little, OG&E; spokesman, said the damage was wind and lightning-related.
The damage in the Deer Creek area appeared to be from a lightning strike on a substation, he said.
In addition, power was knocked out in Hunter, which also is served by OG&E;, according to Rusty Carter, Hunter Fire Department chief.
The storms caused few other problems, according to Mike Honigsberg, director of Enid and Garfield County Emergency Management.
Water was reported over U.S. 132 north of Carrier at one point as the storms moved through, he said, but had receded quickly.
There also were reports of quarter-size hail in the Hillsdale area and wind gusts of 60-70 mph, Honigsberg said.
