No children were injured Tuesday when a Dover Public Schools bus was involved in an accident in Kingfisher County.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, the driver of the bus, Regina Lenette Rodriquez, 54, of Dover, was treated at King-fisher Regional Hospital for an arm injury and released.
The accident happened at 3:50 p.m. on a county dirt road. There were 18 children on the bus at the time of the accident.
According to the report, Tony Lynn Pirtle, 31, of Kingfisher, was driving a 2002 Dodge 350 towing a 25-foot utility trailer east on the county road. He missed a turn and stopped in the road. The bus stopped behind him, and Pirtle backed up, with the trailer hitting the front wheel of the bus, causing the steering wheel to jerk, according to the report.
Neither Pirtle nor passenger Jody M. Pirtle, 54, of King-fisher, was injured. Both drivers were wearing seat belts, according to the report, which listed improper backing as the cause of the accident.
