ENID —
Deryl Gulliford, director of respiratory therapy at Autry Technology Center, recently was elected to the board of directors of Oklahoma Society of Respiratory Care.
The organization supports respiratory care practitioners throughout the state in many ways, including legislative advocacy, continuing education and scholarships for students. Gulliford’s appointment is for two calendar years, continuing through December 2013.
Gulliford’s appointment marks the first time northwest Oklahoma has had a voice on the OSRC board in several years. Gulliford said the rural hospitals throughout the region and state have special needs to be considered when decisions are made for the profession.
“I am honored to be serving on the OSRC board,” Gulliford said. “It is a great thing to have Autry Technology Center and Enid represented on the state level in this capacity. I will try hard to honorably represent the interests of northwest Oklahoma and smaller communities through the state while I serve.”
One of his special assignments as a board member is working on the society’s continuing education conferences.
Besides teaching at Autry and serving on the OSRC board, Gulliford is program director for Northwest Oklahoma Respiratory Consortium. The consortium consists of 12 community hospitals, Northern Oklahoma College and Autry Tech. Its primary focus is the training of respiratory therapists and other allied health professionals.
