An Oklahoma City man was arraigned Thursday in Garfield County District Court on drug charges.
Ronney Michael Yoder, 50, was arraigned on a felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled drug with intent to distribute and a misdemeanor count of unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.
Because of five prior felony convictions, Yoder faces six years to life on the felony charge.
According to an affidavit filed in the case, Deputies Darryl Beebe and Logan Niles were on patrol about 12:48 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of East Willow when they saw a vehicle speeding and without a working tag light.
The deputies stopped the vehicle in the 2300 block of North Independence and spoke with Yoder, who was driving the vehicle.
Deputies asked Yoder if the address on his license was still correct and Yoder said he was living in Enid again, but was unable to give the deputies an exact address. Beebe notes in the affidavit while speaking with Yoder he acted “extremely nervous” and his hands were shaking.
Yoder had a warrant for his arrest in Garfield County for failure to pay court costs. Beebe placed Yoder under arrest for the warrant and asked Yoder if he had anything that would hurt or stick him. Yoder said he did and told Beebe there was a syringe in his pocket.
Beebe found the syringe in Yoder’s left front pocket, along with a bundle of small plastic bags. Yoder also told the deputies he had a bag of meth in his sock. Deputies took a bag from Yoder’s sock and Yoder then told deputies he also had a set of digital scales in his vehicle.
The weight of the substance found in Yoder’s sock was about 6 grams and tested positive for methamphetamine.
Yoder is being held in lieu of $50,000 and was ordered to return to court Oct. 4 for a bond appearance.
