Fall Harvest Fest slated Tuesday in Hope Outreach Faith Farm garden
Hope Outreach Faith Farm will host a Fall Harvest Fest 4-6 p.m. Tuesday in the garden at 820 W. Cherokee.
As in the past, those attending will be able to enjoy complimentary fall-themed refreshments, while listening to live music provided by George Davis. Products and fresh produce also will be available for purchase from the Faith Farm garden and the Rowdy Stickhorse Farm-to-Fork Bus.
Kate Morrison, Faith Farm director, is encouraging people to come visit Faith Farm during the week.
“Fall is a wonderful time to enjoy the colorful beauty and tranquility of the garden, and we invite folks to come by and sit awhile on any of the many benches and breath in the peace,” Morrison said.
Master Gardener volunteers will be on hand to answer questions about the garden. The many beds presently are filled with fall crops, along with the last of the summer ones. Some of the more unusual things growing this year are purple kohlrabi and flower sprouts. Some of the tried-and-true fall standbys include multicolored beet varieties, broccoli, carrots, lettuce mixes, Asian greens, kale varieties and Napa cabbage.
Attendees may view many different designs of raised beds that help bring gardening up to the gardener who is finding it harder to get up and down from in-ground cultivation.
Morrison is available for programs on Faith Farm Enabling Garden and garden topics by calling 402-0636.
