ENID, Okla. — Two wedding festivals combined into one drew a large crowd Sunday afternoon at Weddings with Elegance in Enid Convention Hall.

The day all about weddings featured various vendors from the Enid area, presenting their product to those soon to be married and those dreaming about marriage.

Frank Baker, director of Eagle Marketing, said the combination of the two shows adds an extra measure to wedding planning and creates a larger market.

“With Dillard’s folding their wedding show into this one, Enid has only one bridal show. Brides can come here to see everyone they need to see, while planning their wedding,” Baker said.

“This makes it a signature event, a one-stop opportunity for shopping and information.”

Sponsors of the show were Enid Convention Hall, Dillard’s, The Bridal Shop, Panevino Wine and Tapas Bar, Enid Floral and Eagle Marketing.

This is the third year for Weddings with Elegance and about the 15th year for the Dillard’s show, Baker said.

Ryan Fossett, of Enid Floral, said the primary function of the business is flowers, but it also rents items that can be used as wedding decorations. Fossett said employees talk with the bride prior to the wedding to determine what the bride wants in her wedding. Fossett asks the brides to fill out a questionnaire regarding their preferences and bring photos of the bride’s dress and the bridesmaids’ dresses, as well as a fabric swath of the dresses to help in matching the colors.

“The bride usually has a good idea what she wants. We discuss the bride’s preferences and expand on the idea and make it personal for every bride,” Fossett said.

Among the vendors were Southard House Bed and Breakfast, which features a honeymoon suite. The third-floor suite features luxury and romance, said co-owner Tammy Neal.

“We got this idea because James and I were getting married. We wanted a nice place to prepare, have pictures taken and stay the night,” Neal said. “The only place in town we liked was booked, and we decided Enid needed another one.”

The honeymoon suite initially was designed as a bridal suite and occupies the entire third floor. It is available for honeymooners, couples celebrating their anniversary, or anyone who wants a romantic retreat.

Neal prepares breakfast every day for their guests.

Unique Venues is a variation of Cherokee Strip Regional Heritage Center and Humphrey Heritage Village. Maria Rosendale said the venue is perfect for those who want to have an outdoor wedding. Wedding receptions also are available in the chapel in Humphrey Heritage Village. Wedding receptions also can be hosted in the temporary display gallery of the museum, and guests can tour the museum while waiting for the bride and groom to arrive and start the wedding reception.

During the Christmas season, the village is decorated for Christmas and is a good time for weddings, Rosendale said. Rehearsal dinners also can be held at the village.

In addition to the wedding vendors, fashion shows were held throughout the afternoon, starting at 2 p.m.

More than 40 booths initially were rented for the event, said Kristen Vencl, sales director for Global Spectrum.
