Special guest speaker at 2:30 and 6 p.m. will be Betsy Arnold, daughter of Frank Broyles, former coach of the University of Arkansas football team. His wife suffered from Alzheimer’s and he wrote a handbook to help caregivers in dealing with the effects of the disease. Arnold also will be speaking at Senior Citizens Center at noon.

Chesnei Thomas, a recent graduate of Fairview High School, participated in STAR (Students Taking Action with Recognition) events at the FCCLA 2009 National Leadership Conference in Nashville, Tenn.
Thomas received a gold medal in career investigation, senior division, one of 22 national STAR events available to FCCLA students. Her medal was presented at a recognition session honoring all participants July 16.
Career investigation is an individual event that recognizes participants for their ability to perform self-assessments, research and explore a career, set goals and create a plan for achieving goals. Thomas explored a career as a speech pathologist. She developed a portfolio and communicated her findings in a presentation to a panel of judges at the conference.
Thomas will be a freshman at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
