ENID —
Candidates for mayor and city commissioner will participate in two forums that will be open to the public and broadcast on PEGASYS and local radio stations.
Candidates for mayor and Ward 1 will participate in a forum Jan. 25, and candidates for Wards 2 and 5 will participate in a forum Jan. 27.
The forums will be 6-7:45 p.m. each night in the city commission chambers at city hall, 401 W. Garriott.
The forums will be moderated by local news personalities. The forums will be a question-and-answer format with opening statements and closing statements by the candidates. The public is invited to attend the forums and also submit questions in writing as time allows.
The forums will be broadcast live on PEGASYS, Enid’s public-access television station, and on local radio stations and also will be rebroadcast on PEGASYS.
The forums are hosted by Enid News & Eagle, Eagle Marketing, KNID, KGWA and PEGASYS.
All the candidates have been invited, and most have responded they will attend, said Cindy Allen, managing editor of the Enid News & Eagle.
“This is an opportunity for each candidate for Enid city office to talk to the public about their ideas for the city of Enid,” she said.
Candidates for mayor are David Burrows, Loyd Kaufman, Bill Shewey and Paul Spoonemore.
Candidates for Ward 1 are Rick Childs, Ron Janzen and Rodney Olson. Candidates for Ward 2 are Mike Stuber, Randall Oswald and Jerry Galsbreath, and candidates for Ward 5 are Larry R. Brummal and Tammy Wilson.
