ENID, Okla. —
Eight people cited two weeks ago during bar checks conducted by Garfield County Sheriff’s Office were in court Thursday.
The checks were conducted Oct. 12-13, and the eight were given citations and ordered to appear in district court. Seven of the eight were charged with sale of beer to a minor, a misdemeanor, when underage informants entered county bars and purchased low-point beer.
Those cited for sale of beer to a minor and subsequently charged are:
• Heather Elizabeth Mason, 30, Bud’s Bar, 121 E. Lahoma, in Lahoma.
• Larry Dean Wood, 68, Fugly’s, 3203 S. Van Buren.
• Erica Jasmine Rodriguez, 23, El Charos, 10306 S. U.S. 81.
• Mark E. Wood, 58, Blue Note, 1621 N. Grand.
• Roy Eugene Landwehr, 64, Gerry’s Bar and Grill, in Waukomis.
• Letitia Renee Battelo, 35, 1421 Lounge, 1421 S. Van Buren.
• Elaine Barbara Wildrix, 48, Captain’s Quarters, 214 W. Broadway.
Sale of beer to a minor is punishable by no more than a year in jail and a fine of up to $500.
Jeramie Tipton, 35, who was working at Crappy’s Warehouse, 302 E. Maple, when checks were conducted, was cited and subsequently charged with permitting a person under 21 to enter a bar, which is punishable by no more than a year in jail and a fine of up to $500.
All eight were given recognizance bonds with $500 penal sums, and most were ordered to return to court Nov. 21 for bond appearances.
“We’re trying to prevent underage accidents, underage drinking and driving and underage drinking period,” Undersheriff Jerry Niles said. “We trying to protect the public the best we can.”
He said the sheriff’s office is working to identify people with counterfeit identifications, as well as conducting education about alcoholic beverage laws and working with other agencies to combat underage drinking in the county.
