NOC Enid hosts open house for newly renovated nursing wing

ENID — Northern Oklahoma College’s division of nursing threw open the doors at the Enid campus Friday afternoon and showed off the $2 million renovation of the Zollars Building.

A host of dignitaries from the college, the regents and Enid Higher Education Council attended the open house. They included regents Lynn Smith and Keith James; Higher Education Council members Martie Oyler and Bert Mackie; Pat Farrell, whose wife, Kay Farrell, was instrumental in the formation of the NOC nursing program; and Jeff Tarrant, CEO of Integris Bass Baptist Health Center.

“This is a great day for Northern Oklahoma College,” school President Cheryl Evans said.

The Zollars Building, constructed in the 1960s, had fallen into considerable disrepair after the closure of Phillips University. The renovation of the building took about two years.

The nursing program, which prepares graduates for certification as registered nurses, has bridge programs with both Autry Technology Center and Northwestern Oklahoma State University.

Autry graduates can bridge from licensed professional nurse to RN at NOC and complete NOC’s program in one year. NOC graduates can bridge to NWOSU’s bachelor of science registered nurse program, and complete that program in two additional years.
