ENID, Okla. —
The February meeting of the Garfield County Republican Women’s Club will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at YWCA Enid, 525 S. Quincy.
The program will be presented by a panel of candidates running in the Feb. 12 Enid City Commission election. To make lunch reservations, contact Sandy at 233-8715 by Wednesday.
The club also will offer a $250 scholarship to a Garfield County female senior. The scholarship is based on academics, activities, character and a written essay. Anyone interested in applying for the scholarship should request an application from her high school counselor or contact Toni DeKock at 233-3788.
The scholarship also is open to girls who live in Garfield County. The completed application form, along with a copy of a certified transcript through December 2012, a letter of recommendation from a school teacher or counselor, and the essay must be postmarked by March 30. The written essay should address Republican President Warren G. Harding’s statement, “In the great fulfillment, we must have a citizenship less concerned about what the government can do for it, and more anxious about what it can do for the nation.”
The scholarship recipient will be announced at the May GCRW meeting.
