Garfield County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man Wednesday afternoon after finding drugs and a stolen gun in his home.
Joseph Garcia Jr., 22, was arrested on complaints of possession of controlled substance with intent to distribute, knowingly concealing stolen property, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm after former felony conviction.
Deputies Shawna Cornish and Laura Roberts went to 1902 E. Cherokee on information a man with outstanding warrants was staying at the home.
Cornish said she and Roberts spoke with Garcia at the home and could smell a strong odor of marijuana.
A search warrant for the house was obtained and executed at 2:23 p.m. Inside the home deputies found about a pound of marijuana, more than $1,400, a gun reported stolen outside of Garber in a 2004 burglary and a military bullet-proof vest reported stolen in a recent burglary, Cornish said.
While searching the house, deputies learned Garcia has another residence at 4181⁄2 S. Polk, and deputies Brent Vaughn and Troy Bush served a second search warrant there, seizing more marijuana, Cornish said.
