A seminar highlighting the effects of Alzheimer’s disease and dementia will be 9 a.m. Thursday in the east end of Oakwood Mall, 4125 W. Garriott.
The seminar is being sponsored by Northern Oklahoma Development Authority Area Agency on Aging, SeniorLife Network and Eunice Khoury, sponsor of the radio program “Well Preserved.”
Former University of Arkansas head football coach Frank Broyles’ family — Betsy Broyles and Molly Arnold — will share their experiences as caregivers for Barbara Broyles, the coach’s wife who was diagnosis with Alzheimer’s disease and died due to complications of the disease in 2004.
The seminar is designed to offer advice and tools to help caregivers.
Broyles developed a game plan, “The Playbook for Alzheimer’s Caregivers,” that offers practical tips to help care for a person with Alzheimer’s disease or dementia. Broyles’ book will be available for $10.
Khoury will discuss long-term care options.
Seminar participants also can visit with representatives from Veterans Administration, Oklahoma Legal Aid services and Medicare specialists.
The event is free and open to the public. For information, contact Judy Rupp at 237-2236 or (800) 749-1149.
