Two arrested on drug complaints

ENID, Okla. — A Garfield County Sheriff’s Office deputy arrested two men on felony drug complaints Wednesday and seized more than 30 grams of marijuana and more than $2,100 in suspected drug money.

Justin Keith Barker, 21, and Anthony William Murrow, 26, were arrested on complaints of possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug proceeds following the traffic stop.

While patrolling on West Garriott, Deputy Darryl Beebe saw a vehicle with a broken windshield and missing a rearview and driver’s side mirror. Beebe initiated a traffic stop, and the vehicle turned into the Kmart parking lot, and stopped in the KFC parking lot.

Beebe spoke with the driver, Barker, who provided a driver’s license but no insurance for the vehicle, stating the vehicle did not belong to him.

Beebe explained the reason for the stop and noted an overwhelming odor of freshly sprayed cologne coming from the vehicle, according to a sheriff’s office report.

Beebe also noted the occupants of the vehicle were “extremely nervous,” and the front seat passenger was avoiding eye contact, according to the report. Barker had lit a cigarette, which is commonly used as a masking agent, according to the report.

Beebe asked Barker if there was anything illegal in the vehicle, and Barker said he had a concealed handgun between the console and passenger seat, later advising that it was a pellet gun, according to the report. Beebe retrieved the weapon and noted it was a Crossman revolver, black with no orange markings.

Beebe asked Barker to get out of the vehicle and detected an odor of raw marijuana coming from the vehicle, according to the report. Beebe noted Barker was trying to use his cellphone after being asked to stop.

Because Barker was being extremely nervous and had a weapon in the vehicle, Beebe patted him down for any other weapon, according to the report.

During the pat down, Beebe found Barker had a large sum of cash in his back left pocket, according to the report.

Barker refused to allow Beebe to search the vehicle, which then was impounded because it did not have insurance.

During a vehicle inventory, two large plastic bags with a green leafy substance and odor of raw marijuana were found in the glove box, according to the report.

Beebe also located a blue and black glass smoking pipe with a burnt substance, consistent with the odor of burnt marijuana, according to the report.

Beebe seized the $2,135 in cash Barker had and Barker’s LG phone. The substance from the two plastic bags tested positive for marijuana, according to the report, and one weighed 30 grams and the other weighed 2 grams.
