Ray’s Auto Sales to close
Ray’s Auto Sales, one of Enid’s long-time used car lots, is closing its doors today after 42 years.
Ray Nakvinda opened the business in April 1968 at 1113 N. Grand and operated it until his death Jan. 19, 2009.
According to his wife, Louise, Nakvinda sold vehicles at the lowest price possible to help people.
“He sold cars for working families,” she said. “He was always available to help others. He gave his brother, Danny, a start in his business, Danny’s Auto Sales.”
Cars weren’t the only thing Nakvinda sold. He also sold tractors, trailer homes, boats and lawn mowers.
On May 18, 1974, Nakvinda married Louise Pierce Stephens in Cashion. They made their home in Enid. He also worked 10 years at Tinker Air Force Base and eight years for Northrop at Vance Air Force Base.
