OKLAHOMA CITY —
The lone survivor of medical helicopter crash outside Kingfisher two weeks ago has been released from an Oklahoma City hospital.
EagleMed spokeswoman Shelia Rupp-Haag said 34-year-old EMT Michael Eccard was released Wednesday from OU Medical Center.
Pilot Al Harrison and nurse Ryan Duke both died in the July 22 crash of an EagleMed helicopter traveling from Oklahoma City to Okeene Hospital to pick up a patient.
The crash occurred about 7:20 p.m. in a field south and east of Kingfisher. Witnesses reported at the time seeing the helicopter rotating out of control. Others said they saw a man jump from the helicopter before it crashed.
According to an Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Eccard was found about 50 yards from the crash site. He suffered internal and external body injuries and broken legs.
EagleMed LLC, the Wichita, Kan.-based company that operates the A-Star 350 helicopter, said the company is “working diligently” to assist Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board in their crash investigation.
