ENID, Okla. —
Suddenlink internet service and Pioneer Cellular service customers experienced loss of services Monday morning.
Suddenlink Communications customers in west and south areas of Enid experienced internet disruption Monday morning.
“We experienced a service disruption at about 4:20 a.m. that required repair of equipment serving one neighborhood area in west Enid,” said Gene Regan, director of corporate communications for Suddenlink. “Fewer than 20 customers were affected. Our technicians diagnosed the problem and repaired it within 30 minutes. At about 8:30 a.m., another disruption affecting about 20 customers required equipment repair in a unit serving customers living in the southern part of the city. It was repaired by 11 a.m.”
Pioneer Telephone Cooperative’s cellphone service was disrupted systemwide from about 3-11 a.m. Monday.
Richard Ruhl, general manager of Pioneer, said the outage was triggered by a scheduled software upgrade.
“This particular software upgrade created a problem in the system that caused a significant outage for an extended time,” Ruhl said. “The entire Pioneer cellular network was affected. However, customers were still able to text message. Pioneer Cellular sincerely apologizes for the inconvenience to our customers, but these upgrades are necessary.”
