ENID, Okla. —
Thanks, Enid, for 31 years of wonderful memories.
My in-laws, Fran and Marty Hoad, lived there and she considered Enid to be the center of the universe.
My husband took me there to meet his parents and announce our engagement.
We were there for Thanksgiving and Christmas, Fourth of July, symphony teas, breakfasts at IHOP, dinners at Costello’s.
My niece had her engagement and wedding rings made by the same jeweler who made Mom’s engagement and wedding rings.
My daughter encountered her “first-ever dirt road” in Enid when she was learning to drive.
Fireworks and go-kart races on the Fourth (of July) were a family tradition.
Favorite memories included watching the snow fall and swimming.
I saw the Symphony Hall before, during and after renovation.
When we first entered the unrestored Egyptian-style room in the summer of 1995, I felt like Howard Carter discovering King Tut’s tomb. What a fabulous facility!
I worked for the Texas Workforce Commission, and in 2009, Advance Food was recruiting in Fort Worth for people to move to Enid.
The interviewer handling the job order didn’t know anything about Enid to tell prospective employees. I was happy to tell her why I like it so much.
It is big enough to have name-brand stores and restaurants, yet small enough that traffic is not a hassle. Shopping is fun in Enid!
I even went to after-Christmas sales in Enid (something I would never do here) and snared some real bargains.
The Hobby Lobby in Enid, my mother-in-law’s favorite place in town, is the best craft store I’ve seen.
I always enjoyed attending Central Christian with my in-laws when we were in town.
I’m sorry to no longer have a reason to go to Enid. May God bless you and may you bless others.
