Claudia Kovar, staff attorney for Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, will discuss guardianship and other issues during a presentation Friday in Enid.
Her presentation, Adult Guardianships and Alternatives to Guardianships, will be 11:30 a.m. Friday at Meadows Point Apartments, 1225 S. Cleveland. The hour-long presentation is free and open to the public.
Kovar will discuss the process for obtaining a guardianship and other options for planning for incapacity. The event is funded by a grant from Northern Oklahoma Development Authority, NODA.
Seeking a guardianship can be an expensive and time-consuming process. There are other steps a person can take to avoid having to file for a guardianship, including executing a power of attorney or an advanced directive for health care.
