Genealogy conference set in Oklahoma City

A free conference on genealogy, “Pathway to Family Research,” will be presented April 13 at FamilySearch Center in Oklahoma City.

“The conference is to teach the participants how to find their ancestors using the website available for free through familysearch.org,” said Donna Waddle, senior assistant director of the FamilySearch Center.

The conference is hosted by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

FamilySearch.org is a nonprofit family history organization dedicated to connecting families across generations. The website allows users to research their personal family histories, take online research courses and connect with others in discussion forums.

Conference participants can choose from three concurrent classes per hour based on their personal interests and family history expertise. Topics include learning how to research ancestries from various countries and utilizing multiple genealogy websites. Several classes are available in Spanish.

Preregistration is available, but not required. Registration at the conference begins at 8:30 am.

Those registered in advance can pre-pay for a $10 Jason’s Deli lunch box and a $2 information packet.

The Enid LDS church has a Family History Center at 419 N Eisenhower. Hours are noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday and by appointment Tuesdays, Thursdays and Friday. For an appointment, call (580) 747-4685.
